Find out which of your claims survives contact with the certificate.

Most sustainability claims are made in good faith by people who have not read what their certificate actually covers. Two deadlines are about to make that expensive.

Why now

From 27 September 2026 a generic environmental claim you cannot demonstrate, or a sustainability label not based on a certification scheme, is a prohibited commercial practice across the EU. From 31 December 2027 the Materials Matter Standard is mandatory and the certificates behind GRS, RCS and the Organic Content Standard stop being issued.

Neither deadline is the hard part. The hard part is that a certificate covers specified product categories and a specified field of operation, and almost nobody checks which — so claims get attached to marks that do not support them, truthfully and indefensibly at the same time.

What you can buy

Claims defensibility review

Brands with live claims on packaging, product pages or marketing

from $2,50010 working days

Every claim you make, mapped to the certificate or study that is supposed to support it. You get a per-claim verdict — substantiated, qualified, or indefensible — with the operative wording from the regulation or standard that decides it.

  • Claim-by-claim register with verdict and source
  • Certificate scope check against the issuing body’s own register
  • Exposure ranked against Directive (EU) 2024/825, the CMA code and the FTC Green Guides
  • Rewrite suggestions for claims that are true but indefensible as worded

Materials Matter transition readiness

Anyone certified to GRS, RCS or the Organic Content Standard

from $5,00015 working days

GRS, RCS and OCS consolidate into the Materials Matter Standard, mandatory for Tier 4 audits from 31 December 2027, with claims and labels conforming by 30 June 2029. Certificates in your supply chain have end dates. This finds them and sequences the work.

  • Supplier certificate inventory with expiry dates
  • Gap analysis against the Materials Matter requirements
  • Sequenced transition plan against the four fixed dates
  • Supplier communication pack

Certificate renewal watch

Anyone relying on suppliers’ certificates staying valid

$290 per yearcontinuous

You send your supplier list once. Their certificates are checked against the issuing bodies’ registers on a monthly cycle, and you are told before one expires or is withdrawn — not after a buyer asks.

  • Monthly re-check against the public registers
  • Alerts at 90, 60 and 30 days before expiry
  • Immediate notice if a certificate disappears from a register
  • Annual summary of what changed

Prices are starting points, not a rate card. The scoping note comes back free and says what the work is actually worth in your case — including when the answer is that you do not need it.

How it runs

  1. Send what you have

Your claims, your certificates, your supplier list. A spreadsheet is fine. Nothing needs to be tidy.

  2. Scoping note back, free

Within two working days you get a written note saying what is in scope, what it will cost, and — if the answer is that you do not need this — that instead.

  3. The work

Everything traced to the issuing body, the regulator or the study. Where a source cannot settle a question, it is recorded as unresolved rather than filled in.

  4. Delivery and a call

A written report you can hand to legal or a buyer, and an hour to walk through it.

What is not for sale

The independence is the product

Every eco directory and review site eventually sells favorable coverage. That is the moment its assessments stop being worth anything. These are standing rules, not current policy.

No paid reviews
A company cannot pay to be assessed on the reference pages, favorably or at all. Sponsorship buys a labelled block beside a page, never a line inside one.
No badge for sale
A verification you can buy is worth nothing, and after 27 September 2026 displaying a label not based on a real certification scheme is a prohibited practice in the EU.
No placement in the references
The material on this site is not an advertising surface. Clients are not mentioned there.
No certification
This is not a certification body and does not issue certificates. It reads the ones you already have and tells you what they support.

Questions

Q

Is this legal advice?

No. This is research and documentation: what your certificates cover, what the published rules require, and where the two do not meet. It is not a legal opinion and does not substitute for counsel. Several clients use the output as the factual basis their lawyer then works from.

Q

What do you need from me to start?

Your live claims — packaging copy, product page text, marketing lines — and the certificates you hold or your suppliers hold. A spreadsheet and a folder of PDFs is enough. The scoping note back is free and will tell you if the work is not worth doing.

Q

Why is the renewal watch priced annually rather than monthly?

Because certificate expiry runs on an annual cycle and a monthly subscription would imply monthly value that is not there. You are buying twelve checks and the alerts that come out of them.

Q

Can you review claims for a market outside the EU, UK and US?

The documented coverage is those three. Other jurisdictions can be quoted for, but the scoping note will say plainly where the regulatory research would be new rather than existing work.

Q

Do you work with certification bodies or standards organizations?

No commercial relationship exists with any certifier, standards body or testing house, and none is accepted. That independence is what makes the reference material worth citing and the review worth paying for.

Next step

Send what you have

Claims, certificates, supplier list — untidy is fine. The scoping note back is free and will tell you whether this is worth doing at all.
